Medical Surgical Nursing/Skills Simulation Coordinator (FT)
Albany Technical College seeks a full-time Medical Surgical Nursing/Skills Simulation Coordinator. This 12-month position is based at the Dougherty Campus, but may include routine travel throughout the local Service Delivery area. This position is responsible for performing all aspects of clinical/simulation for assigned programs and any aspects of instruction as needed. The Medical Surgical Nursing/Skills Simulation Coordinator will be responsible for developing, modifying, and implementing educational training that meets both the instructional objectives of the institution and the needs of the students. Under general supervision, the Coordinator will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction and simulation lab for credited technical/occupational courses. He/she will develop program syllabi and evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. The Medical Surgical Nursing/Skills Simulation Coordinator will request and maintain supplies and equipment, prepare budget requests, and maintain program certification requirements as appropriate. He/she will prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports, attend staff development training workshops, seminars and conferences, and ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area. He/she will meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues, and assist with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. The Medical Surgical Nursing/Skills Simulation Coordinator will assist with maintaining program standards by participating in related advisory committee meetings and work directly with local employers. He/she should have excellent interpersonal skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in the use of MS Office, Word and Excel.
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate MUST possess a Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university, and MUST have three (3) or more years within the last seven (7) years of strong clinical experience in medical surgical, acute patient care and/or emergency or trauma conditions. Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing may apply if he/she will have a MSN by May 2022. Georgia State Licensure as a Registered Nurse and in Good Standing.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those candidates who possess teaching experience, traditional and online; knowledge and use of nursing simulation laboratories for instruction.
Physical Demands: Work is typically performed in a classroom environment with intermittent sitting or walking in various settings. Must frequently lift and carry lightweight objects. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes. Hand and finger motion may be required for data entry purposes.
Salary/Benefits: Salary range is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
