Job Summary The individuals selected for these positions will perform basic level technical research tasks in agronomy, horticulture, livestock care, and farm facility repair maintenance at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center located in Headland, AL.
Essential Functions: Essential functions, include but are not limited to the following: Collect data including plot weights, observations, and various other measurements; assist in layout of research plots, planting, fertilizing, spraying, harvesting, and tagging of research plots; assist in cattle feeding, maintenance, and weighing; assist in supervising part-time employees; and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience: • High School diploma or equivalent • No experience required for entry level I.
Salary Range: $18,400 - $30,600 Level II requires a High School diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience in farming practices. Salary Range: $20,300 – $33,800 Level III requires a High School diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience in farming practices. Salary Range: $22,300 – $37,200 When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply with additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Skills and Abilities: • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated technical excellence, the ability to work both independently and in a team environment, and a commitment to an inclusive and diverse working environment are required. • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection is required Desired qualifications • Desired qualifications include familiarity with farm equipment and ability to work with cattle
