Position Summary
Part-time (20 hours a week) position available on or after June 3, 2024 at the Stockton Campus.
The Associate Dean of the Stockton Campus is a key leadership role responsible for advancing the strategic vision and operational excellence of the campus. This position involves fostering collaborative relationships with academic colleges, managing enrollment and student affairs, promoting campus advancement initiatives, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, supporting faculty and student development, and representing the Stockton Campus in university-wide initiatives and professional associations. The Associate Dean works closely with the Stockton Campus Dean to drive academic and administrative initiatives, contributing to the overall success and growth of the campus within the university framework.

Job Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Attend meetings with academic leadership from various colleges, fostering collaboration and alignment between the Stockton Campus and the Main Campus.
  • Support enrollment management efforts, including student recruitment and engagement with community partners.
  • Collaborate on course scheduling and faculty hiring processes, ensuring alignment with academic agreements.
  • Track and review program assessment data specific to the Stockton Campus.
  • Assist in academic scheduling, faculty development, and budget planning at the Stockton Campus.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Address student concerns and mediate issues with faculty.
  • Participate in campus advancement initiatives and promote the Stockton Campus's public image.
  • Collaborate on academic scheduling, budget decisions, and strategic planning to enhance student success.
  • Support curricular matters, including course development, program modifications, and course scheduling updates.
  • Assist in overseeing campus-based institutes, grants, and student development initiatives.
  • Represent the Stockton Campus in university committees and professional associations.
  • Support faculty and student development activities, including research and scholarly endeavors.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Stockton Campus Dean as needed and engage in other tasks as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant academic discipline.

    Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in academic administration, program/project coordination, and/or faculty development within a higher education institution.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in leadership roles within academic and/or professional settings (e.g., department chair, program coordinator, center director, project manager).
  • 5+ years of experience in academic administration, faculty development, curriculum management, community engagement, or related areas within higher education institutions.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards in higher education.
  • Experience as a tenured faculty member.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accreditation processes and standards, preferably related to science or STEM programs.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate initiatives within established timelines and budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with experience in utilizing assessment data to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with higher education policies and procedures, particularly those related to faculty governance, academic affairs, and student support services.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, while managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in academic programming and faculty development efforts.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.

    Special Conditions

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability travel between work locations and off-campus sites as necessary.

    License or Certifications

  • Valid California Driver's License.

    Salary Range
    Anticipated part-time salary will be $5,796 - $6,250 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist.

    Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
