Code Enforcement/Building Inspector

General Duties, Responsible for reviewing and issuing of building permit application, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical projects, Reviewing and insuring compliance with all applicable building codes and regulations related to new construction projects. Additional responsibilities include documenting all permits including maintenance, and documentation of all inspection records from issuance to close out. The physical on site inspections of all phases of construction including but not limited to building placement, footings, reinforcing, building framing, plumbing, electrical, mechanical as well as special provisions from beginning to completion, final inspection and issuance of Certificates of Occupancy. Related inspections include investigation of complaints relating to alleged environmental, health, and safety codes including notification, follow up and resolution. Provide a monthly activity and status report related to day to day projects. Additional responsibilities include providing assistance or support documentation or expertise to associated departments, appropriate officials, city council, boards and commissions, other special task as assigned. Work involves the performance of duties within established policies, laws and regulations, and is reviewed by the Zoning Administrator through conferences and reports. 

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree in building construction field, hold a Texas Issued Trade License in Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical, State of Texas Plumbing Inspector’s License, Texas Issued State Certification in health, sanitation, public drinking water related fields.
