JOB DESCRIPTION

LENGTH OF CONTRACT:  210-day Elementary Principal Contract 

Reports to: Superintendent or designee

Anticipated Start Date: 7/1/2024

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position) 

  • Must love children. Especially passionate about working with Elementary school aged children.
  • Valid WA State Teacher’s certificate and valid WA State Principal’s credential.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents. 
  • Energetic individual who is actively involved in our school community.
  • Knowledge and experience of elementary school programs, curriculum, instruction,
    professional learning communities, and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience in monitoring, assisting, and evaluating effective instruction and assessment practices. 
  • Developing, leading, and monitoring school improvement processes to increase student achievement. 

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which would be useful to the position) 

  • Bilingual/English/Spanish 
  • Demonstrated experience leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of a data-driven plan for increasing student achievement. 
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated successful K-12 administrative experience; Principal experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in assisting staff with alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with state and local district learning goals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and ensure school safety. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing both staff and fiscal resources to support student achievement and legal responsibilities. 
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with families and communities to promote learning.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHALL:

  • Work daily to provide a culture in the building that is supportive of staff and students and leads to exceptional outcomes for the school, district, and community.
  • Create and foster a school culture and daily climate where individual ownership,teamwork, and growth are reached individually and collectively.
  • Oversee the daily operations to meet building and student goals by listening,supporting staff, and engaging families.
  • Works effectively with the District Office and building staff to build positive relationships.
  • Maintain budgets and human resources effectively to support building goals and student outcomes.
  • Effectively evaluate staff by following local and state required procedures.
  • Grow and develop staff through positive interaction, coaching, and caring communication.
  • Work to hire and retain high-quality staff and provide appropriate supervision that will ensure professional growth.
  • Provide appropriate educational opportunities for all students with a focus on Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
  • Establish and adjust course outlines and objectives through planning, collaboration, and ensuring classroom instructional activities are consistent with adopted district curriculum and State Learning Standards.
  • Monitor student learning using multiple sources of data to develop a plan for the improvement of student achievement and align and create systems to identify and eliminate gaps.
  • Understand the importance of safety by creating a safe and orderly working environment and following safe work practices.
  • Maintain and implement awareness of all legal policies regarding, but not limited to, documentation, record retention, data privacy, local bargaining agreements, and board policies.
  • Contributes to team efforts by performing other related tasks as assigned by the superintendent of schools.
