is seeking Broadband Technician II
Under general supervision of the Director of Telecom Services, handles the installation,
application, and repair of internet or telecommunication systems and typically travels to
residential & commercial businesses, assist in customer support, and route the appropriate wires throughout installation site as necessary; performs maintenance and provides customer support with diagnosing problems/solutions as needed; assist with the planning, installation, operation, monitoring, analyzing and
maintenance of the fiber network.
Applicants wishing to apply should meet the following minimum requirements:
Must have high school diploma (or GED) with four to eight years of relevant technical experience required. A two-year associate degree in Electronics or related discipline is preferred. Experience in FTTH/FTTP
telecommunications network required.
(Closely related and progressive job experience may substitute for part or all of the educational requirements). Must have valid state driver's license.
Must possess knowledge of installation and
repair of advanced technical telecommunications, and extensive knowledge of OSP
engineering and functions. Must be able to
install, terminate, and troubleshoot drops from MST to customer home, both aerial and underground drops; and troubleshoot in-home wiring including cat 5/6, phone wiring, and fiber optic cables.
Must be able to install and troubleshoot Buzz installed equipment including ONT's, residential gateways, wiring, phone equipment, and backup batteries. Must be able to perform corrections, repairs of customer broadband service; perform customer service & education as needed. Must be able to maintain detailed
records of services, assist with vendor,
contractor, or internal resource issues
regarding fiber installations and repair;
maintain detail record-keeping with customer services. Must be able to assist and maintain fiber network documentation to all CEC
locations to include substation/line reclosures, voltage regulators, and capacitor switching controls. Must be able to resolve customer issues and ensures customer satisfaction. Must have working knowledge of all LAN, WAN, and fiber network systems & equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot and minimize network outages of all fiber optic outside plant and
customer premise electronics. Must be able to repair customer Prem RG WIFI and ONT
Equipment & Telephone networks. Must be able to make cable assignments based on fiber optic and CAT 5/6 wiring color codes; maintain proper fiber connector cleaning procedures; maintain ONT's at Reclosure stations (downline devices); configure CPE equipment, upgrade residential & commercial network equipment, while following all NESC codes during installation and maintenance/troubleshooting of
network equipment; follow all NESC codes
during design and installation. Monitors
workload, including traffic and utilization needs, monitor and inspects technicians
regarding installation and maintenance of
advanced telecom network equipment for
efficiency and customer satisfaction for items such as: ADTRAN TA 5000, MX Router, QFX Switches, Fiber optic FDP & Splitter Shelves, Servers, Rectifier DC Voltage Systems,
Batteries, Plans, Housekeeping Alarms, Grounding, and Heating & Cooling Systems. Must be available for on-call situations.
Applicant must be willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends in emergency
situations or as required; must be willing to participate in special training program as
requested. Applicant must also
pass a pre-employment drug screen and
background check.
