Events and Grants Manager
This is a responsible, professional position that provides event support for sporting, entertainment, and industry events. Work involves managing and supporting the event volunteer staffing programming and the award and hospitality programs with Tourism events, which includes coordination of food and beverage for athletes, volunteers, staff, and concert hospitality support. This position will manage the sports and special events grant programs and assist with servicing the legacy and signature/emerging event grants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manage event operations for all sporting and entertainment events including industry events.
Manage applications, review process, award process, contracts and post-event reports for sports and special event grants and service legacy and signature/emerging signature event grants.
Participate in all event planning meetings, manage volunteer programs, and work with vendors and partners to confirm staffing levels for each event.
Coordinate the award and hospitality function for events.
Maintain best practices and assess and implement new standard operating procedures for events as well as assist with budget management for all events.
Collaborate and assist the marketing department with event promotions, public relations, signage, group welcomes, and promotional materials, including grant events (Legacy, Signature, Emerging Signature, Sports).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the tourism industry, primarily events and grants. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively and multi-task. Ability to be creative, detail-oriented, and have excellent time management skills. Ability to travel and work weekends, holidays and evenings, as necessary. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to function with the highest ethical standards. Experience working with all types of events as well as grant management.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK
Employee must be able to work independently when managing and reviewing the entire grant process for sports and special event grants. Employee must be able to exercise independent judgment in situations which may not fall within established procedures.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMER CONTACT
Internal contact with department staff. Considerable external contact with industry stakeholders and customers.
EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
Personal computer; word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; specialized software such as iDSS; adding machine/basic calculator; operation of a car and/or light truck.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work will be mainly indoors, usually seated in a chair at a desk. There will be some work outdoors at sporting and special events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Sports Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid State of Florida Class "E" Operator's License and have a favorable driving record.
