Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Director for Clinical Coordination, Counseling, is a blended clinical and administrative position. The psychologist or LCSW/LCPC in this role provides direct clinical and outreach services to students, serving as the lead clinician on the front—line team of the main LSC location. The associate director also provides crisis intervention, assessment and on-call services to students. Additionally, the position serves as the coordinator of the day to day operations of clinical services, and serves on the Wellness Center leadership team. Other duties as assigned.
1. Serves as a member of the Wellness Center Leadership Team
Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, social work, counseling or a related field; minimum of four years experience, preferably at a university counseling or health center; must hold Illinois license in your discipline or be license-eligible.
Qualifications
Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field, with demonstrated experience and skill in mental health and /or other outreach work required.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
Current valid State of Illinois license in relevant mental health field, or ability to obtain Illinois licensure within 90 days of start date.
Computer Skills
Ability to use electronic medical record, Microsoft Office, and university computer programs through HR.
Familiarity with Point and Click is not required but is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No
Required operation of university owned vehicles

1. Serves as a member of the Wellness Center Leadership Team
- Provides administration and supervision of counseling center operations in the Director of Counseling's absence.
- Provides oversight of direct clinical services delivered by staff psychologists, social workers, counselors, social work interns, postdocs and practicum students at the Lakeshore campus.
- Collaborates with Assistant Director for the WTC Wellness Center in covering overlapping area of responsibility and in implementing consistent procedures across both campus offices.
- Plays key role in orientation and on-boarding of new employees.
- Develops work schedule for all clinical staff members. Develops after hours and daily on-call schedule and sends to appropriate campus partners as needed.
- Responsible for coordinating relationship with ProtoCall for after hours counseling response, arranging and overseeing systems for following up on after hours contact.
- Manages staff service delivery schedule
- Assists with tracking, trends and summarizing department clinical metrics data for the annual report.
- Supports Director of Counseling in ensuring that counseling center files and electronic records are administered such that legal and ethical standards are maintained as required by state law and professional standards.
- Manages the waitlist
- Provides triage, urgent assessments, brief individual psychotherapy, and group counseling.
- Participates in after-hours on-call and Saturday clinic coverage rotation
- Provides timely and accurate risk assessments and crisis intervention services.
- Maintains relationships with off-campus providers to facilitate referrals for students needing longer term care.
- Provides backup to the Director of Counseling on matters pertaining to the Behavioral Concerns and Threat Assessment Teams
- Provides training to staff and faculty on areas of clinical expertise
- Assists with parent orientation and parent consultations.
- Serves on departmental and Student Development committees as assigned by the Director of Counseling or the Director of the Wellness Center.
- Organizes and presents to staff members and trainees based on clinical specialties and expertise.
