Job Summary/Basic Function
The Research Compliance Officer (RCO) ensures institutional compliance with diverse governmental regulations, policies and procedures on research involving animal subjects. The RCO facilitates hazardous materials oversight (IBC); monitors responsible conduct of research training; processes Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosures; reviews university policies and procedures for conducting research with animal subjects; participates in external and internal inspections with the IACUC: audits and prepares reports and operating procedures; and makes effective recommendations to the Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and the Vice Provost Research.
Required Education
Master's Degree
Required Related Experience
Two years progressively related research experience
Desirable Related Experience
Prior experience in higher education administration preferred
Desirable License/Registration/Certification
Masters or Doctoral degree in physical sciences preferred. Three years research compliance experience. Knowledge of compliance issues related to university-based research (IACUC, IBC). Experience with Cayuse or other eRA software.
