Job Summary: The Peter & Judy Jackson Music Program in the Fulton School of Liberal Arts seeks a distinguished pedagogue and conductor as a Director of Bands, as well as a visionary to lead the development of a pep band and eventual marching band program. The Director of Bands is a full-time, non-tenure track, ten-month renewable position at Salisbury University, an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.

Primary Job Duties: Conduct the University Concert Band; serve as founder and artistic/administrative head of the Salisbury University Marching Band and Pep Band; teach courses and applied lessons according to expertise; coordinate music ensembles for various University events, including convocation and commencement; liaise with the Department of Athletics to maintain and grow the relationship between the School of Liberal Arts and the Department of Athletics; develop and implement regional and national recruiting strategies; work with the SU Foundation to assist in fundraising for the marching and pep band programs. The final assignment of duties will be based on the needs of the school and the expertise of the candidate.

Authority and Accountability: This position will report to the Music Co-Chair of the Department of Music, Theatre & Dance and will be responsible for developing budget requests related to the band programs of SU.

Required/Minimum Qualifications: Master of Music with preference for Conducting or Winds Performance. Experience conducting large ensembles. Experience directing or assisting with collegiate-level marching bands.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree. Experience teaching applied brass at the University level.
