Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) Specialist

Department: Information Security

Location: Remote

Reports to: Director of Information Security

FLSA Status: Exempt Regular Full-Time

Role Summary:

The BC/DR Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and testing the business continuity and disaster recovery plans for Trulieve. The BC/DR Specialist ensures that the organization can resume its critical functions and operations in the event of a disruption or crisis. The BC/DR Specialist also provides training and guidance to staff and stakeholders on the best practices and procedures for business continuity and disaster recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update the business continuity and disaster recovery plans for the organization, in alignment with the organizational objectives, policies, and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify the potential threats and vulnerabilities to the organization's critical functions and assets.
  • Design and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans to reduce the impact and likelihood of disruptions and crises.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular tests and exercises to validate the effectiveness and readiness of the business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor and report on the performance and compliance of the business continuity and disaster recovery plans and processes.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to staff and stakeholders on the roles and responsibilities, best practices, and procedures for business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Support the incident management and crisis response teams in the event of a disruption or crisis and facilitate the recovery and restoration of the critical functions and operations.
  • Review and evaluate the lessons learned and feedback from the tests, exercises, and incidents, and recommend improvements and enhancements to the business continuity and disaster recovery plans and processes.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery documentation, including the policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, and templates.
  • Perform risk assessments and business impact analyses for the organization's critical functions and assets and document the findings and recommendations.
  • Identify and prioritize the recovery objectives, strategies, and resources for the critical functions and assets.
  • Develop and implement the business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including the recovery procedures, roles and responsibilities, communication plans, and escalation protocols.
  • Coordinate and conduct the business continuity and disaster recovery tests and exercises, including the planning, execution, evaluation, and reporting phases.
  • Monitor and analyze the internal and external environment for any changes or emerging risks that may affect the business continuity and disaster recovery plans and processes.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to staff and stakeholders on the business continuity and disaster recovery plans and processes and ensure that they are familiar and compliant with their roles and responsibilities.
  • Support the incident management and crisis response teams in the event of a disruption or crisis and provide guidance and assistance on the recovery and restoration activities.
  • Review and evaluate the results and feedback from the tests, exercises, and incidents, and identify the gaps, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Update and improve the business continuity and disaster recovery plans and processes based on the lessons learned and best practices.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, risk management, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and management.
  • Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery standards, frameworks, and methodologies, such as ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34, and BCI Good Practice Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the risk management principles and practices, such as ISO 31000, COSO ERM, and NIST SP 800-30.
  • Knowledge of the incident management and crisis response principles and practices, such as NIMS, ICS, and ISO 22320.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing and complex situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Certification (Optional):

  • Certification in business continuity and disaster recovery, such as CBCP, CBRM, CRISC, or ISO 22301, is a plus.

Work Schedule:

  • 40+ hours weekly with flexible hours depending on department needs.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
