Job Summary
Implements and maintains compliance with Veterans Administration regulations in the Veteran Services office with regard to the awarding and disbursement procedures for veteran benefits under Title 38.
Essential Duties
Provide advice and assistance to students and families regarding applying for veterans educational assistance.
Provide guidance and information to students regarding maintaining and/or regaining eligibility for Title 38.
Function as part of the campus student services team and is the secondary liaison between Veteran Services and the Deans of Student Services, Provost, etc.
Support the college's recruitment and retention mission through the presentation of Veteran Services information, both on campus and throughout the area.
Troubleshoot and solve difficult issues too complex for other staff, including researching and resolving student complaints.
Train new and existing veteran staff and other college staff on veteran's education issues and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent education in Business, Accounting or other related area. Degree requirement may be substituted with equivalent work experience.
One year experience working in Veteran Services.
Ability to be detail-oriented with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform responsibilities with initiative and minimal supervision.
Ability to interact effectively in a team based environment, college service areas and diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or other related area.
Knowledge of educational benefits, regulations, policies and procedures under Title 38.
