Post Doctoral Associate
Med-Pharmacology and Chemical Biology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23008736)

Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Roderick O’Sullivan at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. These funded projects will focus on how DNA repair pathways converge to regulate telomere function in cancer. This research will integrate cellular and molecular biology of cellular models of cancer, optical imaging, biochemistry, and next-generation genomics methodologies, and will be executed through multi-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations.

Candidates nearing completion of a Ph.D. degree in cellular and molecular biology or a related field are encouraged to apply. Necessary research skills include standard molecular and cellular biology techniques. Prior experience in cancer research is not required. In addition, candidates should be highly motivated, seeking to contribute to advancing the understanding of cancer initiation. The laboratory maintains a highly collegial team-based work environment that values critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and intellectual independence to pursue open questions. Salary is commensurate with experience, and past research accomplishments and will be adjusted based on work performance and research achievements. The candidate may be eligible for a Hillman Postdoctoral Fellowship for Innovative Cancer Research (https://hillmanresearch.upmc.edu/research/hillman-fellows/postdoctoral/) that offers a stipend 20% above the NIH recommendation for two years and a $10,000 career development account.
