The University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health is one of the nation’s leading schools of public health, ranking third among schools of public health in terms of NIH funding with contributions that have influenced public health practice and medical care across the world. Central to its mission is to foster a multidisciplinary research approach to understand and solve health problems.
A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Peter Di’s laboratory in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. The successful candidate will become part of the large, multidisciplinary lung biology, microbiology, and environmental health community and have many collaborations opportunities. The lab utilizes genetically modified animals for modeling pulmonary disease, so the applicant should have prior knowledge of using rodents as a model system. Knowledge and experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry are a requirement. The application of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), including RNA-Seq and WGS, is also part of the work relevant to the projects. The position requires basic knowledge of statistics and R or Python for data analysis and experience with bioinformatics tools and software packages necessary to analyze sequencing data. Experience with pharmacological/pharmaceutical approaches such as PD/PK and drug development will be considered a plus.
The candidate should have an M.D. or Ph.D. in Immunology/Microbiology, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Molecular Genetics, with a track record of productivity. The candidate should have creative thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively. Applications should include CV and names/contact information of three referees.
Please submit your application through requisition #21008132 on join.pitt.edu.
