The University of Puget Sound is hiring a Lead Telecommunications and Network Technician to join our Technology Services Department!

The Lead Telecommunications and Network Technician is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing computer networks for the University of Puget Sound. This role involves providing technical support to end-users and other IT staff, ensuring the smooth operation of the network, and optimizing network performance. The successful Lead Telecommunications and Network Technician must be able to manage complex projects that cross-departmental and operational boundaries, and be able to work collaboratively with other teams.

    Please note:

    -Positions that work less than .75 FTE (1,560 hours per year) do not qualify for long-term disability or education benefits.
    -Positions that work less than .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will accrue paid sick leave but are not eligible for additional benefits.
    -Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.

    To be considered for this role, a candidate must have:

  • Advanced knowledge of network and telecommunication resources, services, and applications appropriate for a university environment
  • Proficiency with network monitoring tools and techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of layer 1 through 3 within a networking context
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Windows and MacOS operating systems
  • Ability to envision and implement applications of information technology to support telecommunication and network operations
  • Ability to respectfully work, communicate, and provide leadership within a diverse campus community

    Compensation and Benefits:

  • The pay range for this position is $77,000 - $83,000 annually. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
  • This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
