Parking Maintenance Specialist I

Regular Full-time, Pay Grade MR4, $15.00 base

The Parking Maintenance Worker I performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment, parking lots, garages and transit facilities. All work is to be performed with an emphasis on sound maintenance practices and a development of skills while adhering to all safety procedures set-fourth by the University, the department and regulatory agencies (OSHA). The employee in this position will also be working special events at the University. The Senior Maintenance Worker contributes to the overall success of Parking & Transportation by performing other essential duties (for example: snow removal) and responsibilities as assigned. Employee must keep work site and maintenance shop clean and safe and check emails and work orders on a daily basis via computer and maintain inventory of required parts and materials.



Must be available evenings and weekends due to extensive maintenance and special events schedule for the University. Overtime is required.


Qualifications :

Responsibilities:

ü Conduct inspections, maintenance and repairs of spalling and expansion and compression joints in parking facilities

ü Install and maintain parking wheel stops, speed bumps and parking and traffic signage

ü Setup and break down road closures and construction-related parking and traffic closures

ü Repair doors and door closures

ü Paint parking facilities and streets (i.e., parking lot lines, traffic marking, crosswalks)

ü Clean parking lots, garages and transit facilities

ü Set-up and break down special events for the University

Required qualifications:

High School diploma or a minimum of one year of maintenance and/or service experience

Valid State of Tennessee Driver’s License

Must have knowledge of safe work practices, be in good physical health, and be able to perform moderately strenuous work activities.

Job Skills:

General working knowledge of mechanical equipment and tools. Painting, Basic computer skills (e.g., email and data input). Ability to work as an effective member of a team. Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred qualifications:

Previous parking facilities maintenance and painting, but not required. General Maintenance knowledge preferred.
